NWTC Launches Very Own Chef Academy

NWTC Launches Very Own Chef Academy

May 22nd, 2019

At NWTC, we're all about our people... guests and staff! And that includes our heroes in the kitchen! We're extremely excited and proud to launch the NWTC Chef Academy.

It's aim; to attract, retain and develop chefs of all levels in the business, through apprenticeships and in-house training.

It's a special way for us to recognise and offer growth to our rising stars in the kitchen.

Our vision...

The idea behind the apprenticeship is that we want to grow our own future sous chefs and head chefs and by utilising the apprenticeships we ensure that we are giving our chefs development opportunities and giving them the correct skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the future.   All our apprentices go to college one day per week, this ensures they're able to give their full attention to the tasks they are expected to complete throughout their apprenticeships and get support for written work.

As we launch the scheme, we have 5 wonderful Chef Apprentices in the business.

Let us introduce them to you:

  • Francesco Interlici from The Club House, Liverpool
  • Kirk Baker from The Club House, Liverpool
  • Habib Boukabrine from The Oast House, Manchester
  • Milton De Pina Lopez from The Oast House, Manchester
  • Marek Maronde from The Botanist, Didsbury

Francesco and Milton are currently doing the Level 3 Senior Food Production Chef Apprenticeship and Kirk, Habib and Marek are all doing the Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship.

Plus, the great thing is that the Chef Academy is not only utilising apprenticeships our Executive Chef, James Scott, has written training plans for all levels of chefs entering the business that give clear expectations of the skills and knowledge that each chef should have all the way from KP to Head Chefs. Great care has been taken in developing thise so that we create progression and development plans for each chef that enters our business giving them a clear understanding of their career path with us and an overview of what they can expect from us as their employer.

Calling all chefs...

  1. Do you dream about learning new skills?
  2. Are you passionate about food?
  3. Are you hungry to progress within NWTC?

Then a job at NWTC and a NWTC apprenticeship could be for you!
