About Team Margot and the cause

In 2013 Margot was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia when she was just the age of one and sadly lost her battle just over a year later. Margot was 1 in 2000 people living in the UK who desperately needed a bone marrow transplant in order to save her life. From receiving a stem cell transplant, Margot was given more time to enjoy her life and be with her family. From this, Margot's parents wanted to thank specoal donors like these for the extra time they received and knowing that for some people, stem cell and bone marrow transplants are enough to save their lives.

As a thank you from Margot and people across the world, in 2015, Team Margot was born. The aim of the charity is not to raise money but awareness, and to increase the number of donors in order to save lives. The list of donors for blood stem cells and bone marrow is small, with only 2% of the UK population signed up and not much awareness around it... and this is the aim on PINKSPIRATIONL to increase this number.

Team Margot have done amazing work. On average, for every 1 in 6 bone marrow and stem cell transplants that occur, the donor came from registering through Team Margot! There’s currently over 37,000 people who are in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant across the world. Every 35 seconds someone around the world is diagnosed with blood cancer and with each diagnosis there is another person out there in the world who is in need for a life-saving transplant.

Atlantic Rowers

Pinkspiration Week hopes to see as many new registrations as possible and in December the Team Margot Atlantic Rowers will compete in rowing the Atlantic Ocean for the charity.

The 3,000 miles it will take to cross the ocean will need approximately 1,500,00 oar strokes from the rowers SO the team are in hope to get 1,500,000 people to register (one for each stroke).

How can YOU help...

Once you have registered online, you will receive a DIY swab kit (simply swab your mouth) which you send off and bam you’re a registered donor for life! Following on from registering it then comes down to whether you’re a match for someone who needs a stem cell transplant. More information about the process is available on the charity website here.

What we're doing

To kick start the conversation, we have sent out some PINKSPIRATIONALLY pink packages to each New World venue, containing all the essentials in order to become a registered donor.

We want to spread the word and start the conversation on the importance of making a change and encourage more people to take the step towards saving lives. In participating in spreading Margot’s message, we have an exclusive pink cocktail featured across all our venues to help people to THINK PINK - perfectly served with a QR code taking you right to the registration page… just like magic!
