The Magic of Christmas in Hospitality

The Magic of Christmas in Hospitality

December 20th, 2019

Christmas. Isn’t it just the most wonderful time of the year? Spending your mornings wrapping up warm and your evenings taking off layers as you enjoy festive cocktails and winter warmers at your local... after all it’s Christmas! Who cares if you have that social sip with friends on a school night! One of the most magical moments of the festive period is the smiles on people’s faces as they catch up with friends and families, throwing their heads back as laughter fills their hearts and beer their bellies. Everyone just seems a little more relaxed and why shouldn’t we be?! Santa’s on his way...

---

Whilst December becomes a sleepy month of winding down for most industries, the hospitality industry seems to become crazier than ever. The fast pace environment of hospitality at Christmas time becomes tenfold in all senses of the word. Shifts become longer, tables bigger, personalities louder and demand larger. To create an environment of joy, relaxation and merriness amongst the business is nothing but a Christmas miracle!

---

The buzz of the bar is contagious. But, behind the scenes are busy cocktail wizards and curious chefs creating tastes so magical you can hear the sleigh bells ring while you savour them. On the floor are bartenders, servers and managers galore, as rushed as Santa’s elves as they strive to ensure your night is as carefree as can be. In the kitchen are an army of chef’s in a paradoxical heat compared to the cold winter air; they proudly make each dish that graces your table and they do so with love. After working Christmas in hospitality before, I can tell you, it can be tough – really tough – and nothing can quite prepare you for the wave of people who will come and go throughout the month. But the achievement that comes from delivering an extra special Christmas to so many people is enough to make the extra work needed in December worthwhile… As well as to offer a sigh of relief to know you have completed yet another Christmas and December is now 12 months away.

All year-round people share with you some of their most intimate, sentimental and proudest moments. Being able to be a part of these experiences makes the industry unparalleled in its own right... Let’s be honest, it’s a privilege to help shape these incredible moments.  At Christmas, these moments can be anything from festive party’s to December birthdays, from catchups to long-time-no-see’s, the moments we share at Christmas are next-to-none. It is the best and busiest of times and nothing quite compares to the joy you get when you can make someone feel that little more special at Christmas time.

---

What’s so wonderful about the festive period is that as much as we love influencing your Christmas (for the better) you do the same for us! That’s right, each interaction, each “thank you” and “Have a good evening” brings a heart-warming joy to our Christmas too! Through the exchange of kind words and good service, Christmas’s starts feeling a little more Christmassy all over the world. The power of a smile or recognition really goes a long way and it means so much to all the people who strive to add a little more merriness to your jolly dining experiences or cheery cocktail drinking.

---

It is a privilege and joy for New World to be part of your Christmas memories. All we can say is a big ol’ Christmas cheer “thank you” for choosing to spend a Christmas evening with us! And an all-encompassing Merry Christmas to both guests and hospitality staff alike. After all, what’s one without the other really?
