Shout Loud and Proud, A New (Bar) Champion’s in New World

With huge talents rising in all corners of New World, we love to celebrate the individuality within each of our teams. New World is no stranger to unique expertise, nor encouraging personal development, and for those who strive for ‘excellence’ our bar department is a great place to be (from Master of Beer qualifications, wine-training sessions, supplier educational trips and much more)!
Being a New World Bartender is not for the faint-hearted, but it is for the fun-loving.
Hero’ing their love of cocktail bartending, flare and passion for the techniques, our bartenders have become a rarity and a much-loved asset. From such dedication, the ultimate New World bar challenge was born to crown our Bartender of the Year.
Each year, regional heats take place across the country to narrow the fierce competition down to our finalists for the big event. Watch a teaser from our regional heats here:

The venue: well, there’s really no place better for it than our very own Oast House Teepee, in the heart of Manchester
This year, the final put our eleven finalists through five rounds:
- The Written Test
- The Advance Pour Test
- The Nose Round
- Mixo (base spirit of Bacardi Quatro)
- The. Ultimate. Speed. Round

We have some incredible talent within our bar teams and it was well-deserved to have that acknowledged by the Bacardi team BUT there can only be one winner (well, two) so without further a-do, they were:
- Mixo round winner : Chris Lewtas from The Smugglers Cove
- Bartender of the Year 2018 : Dom Horsley from The Botanist York
